Ubuntu wont boot after install

Bug Description

Im using a 1.8ghz c2d and 2gigs of ram and im using 3 hard drives 2 of them striped together using raid and the other one one without raid for Ubuntu. they are all using SATA. After installiation when i try to boot ubuntu i get a flashing cursor and nothing else. i then have to manually shut down my computer. I never get to the boot loader or anyhting else for that matter. Please help im not very experianced so i need a thorough walkthrough or explanation of what i need to do thanks.
