Bug Description

I have an HP C309a, which will print on CDs. This works well under Windows but the margins are NEVER correct on a CD under Linux. The image is always offset by about 3 to 8 mm (and sometimes resized), which is very considerable if you see it. The problem occurs printing either from Evince or LibreOffice, so the problem appears to be either the HP driver or some other common component.

A file created by LibreOffice for Ubuntu prints correctly on Windows but not on Ubuntu. A file created under LibreOffice for Windows prints correctly on Windows but not on Ubuntu. Likewise, a PDF file prints correctly on Windows but not on Ubuntu

Furthermore, the LibreOffice print menu shows a preview with an incorrectly offset image.

The page size and margins were set automatically for a CD by LO Windows. The page is 5.12" square, with margins set to 0.20". Again, that works correctly under Windows but not Linux. (A 5" page or a 120 mm page with zero margins also fails for Linux.)

The file consists of two large, CENTERED circles, which should appear centered on the CD. I can supply a file for troubleshooting.

There are VERY many settings, but I have explored them thoroughly. There are VERY many layers of printer adjustments. I believe I have them all set correctly, but it would be difficult to know for sure. In particular, I do not have it set to resize on printing.

I have the same issue on a HP Photosmart D5160. Don't use print-to-cd very often, but this is a long-standing
bug (since printer was new). I only managed to solve this by inserting a small dot to print off the bottom and left
of the disk.

The Original Poster mentioned Evince and LO, the error is also apparent in printing from scribus.
Affects Ubuntu 12.04.3 and all previous versions I've tried it on.

Can someone of the HPLIP developers at HP look into this? Thanks.

It might be worth mentioning a trick that can be used to check this out without consuming CDs. If you use an ordinary non-printable CD, the ink washes off very easily, and you can do many tests without cost.
