I am facing a similar problem.
I've mounted a "Windows share" folder from one of the computer in my network using "Connect to Server" function, and unmounted it after I finish using the folder. Since then my it takes very long for the system startup due to Nautilus. It also takes much longer time for me to open any directories now.
Unlike dendril, un-mounting the directory doesn't helps to recover from the problem, is there some configuration files that "Connect to Server" function uses that I can look into?
I've also tried to launch and monitor System Log, a message "Failed to send buffer" (what I remember) is recorded in several log files whenever I open a directory, eg Home directory
