Bug Description

When connecting to a server (eg. irc.freenode.com/cableirc) the connection completes properly and I am joined into the specified channel as is evident by monitoring the channel from another irc channel. But in Cable itself I am just stuck on "Joining channel #cableirc", nothing happens.

Stdout has the following information:

I've tried various nickname variations (both unique and ones that were already taken) to no avail.

I've tried both the version available on the PPA as well as building Cable from trunk.

After few tries I have found that the reason is that the Cable couldn't register the given name for the use in the channel requested. But it didn't shows any warning or error for that. It also doesn't auto generate names like XChat. Simple prompt will fix this issue, I guess.

I am sure this is a duplicate bug report.. somehow.

We are going to work on InfoBars in the future, thanks for the bug report.

I don't see how my name could be an issue, as the same name worked on other IRC clients. Also it couldn't have been that it was in use as I used the most obscure variations for testing.

So might be a bit pre-emptive to mark this as "duplicate".
