Files hangs when interacting with large TIFF files, they should be handled by the daemon

When I'm right-clicking on some files, File manager hangs entire system, and service lightdm restart is required. All
*.tiff files i tried caused this behaviour.

Reported the same problem. I didn't notice that was .TIF files. But YES, I does happen mostly with this files.

Important note: anyone having this problem uses ImageJ, Fiji, Inkscape, MyPaint or Gimp? This bug started when I installed this programs.

I did not try to right-click before i installed GIMP.

I want to confirm this. Phanteon-files locks when entering a folder with several tiff files. This is quite stressing for me as I am a photographer.

This also occurs upon viewing tiff files while zoomed in, or while in a folder with many large TIFF files.

I would post a log when running in debug mode but it spits out nothing useful other than standard stuff.

Cody, I think the summary should read "Files hangs when interacting with TIFF files", as it does not seem to consistently freeze the entire system. Furthermore, I managed to make Files freeze with a single, rather normal sized TIFF file (MARBLES.TIFF, 1419x1001, 2.6 MB). I can upload the file if you would like, it could serve as a test case.

So, as said in the merge proposal, this feature should be handled by the daemon, so as it doesn't lag and information are kept in the database. See the color stuff for an example.

The lag issue was worked around by disabling the calculation of image dimensions in the overlay bar. It is not considered fixed yet.
