Bug Description
Updating Virtual Box (from 4.2.12 to 4.2.16) I was left with no USB devices in the Devices tab of a Windows XP Guest.
Re-installing Guest Additions made no difference and the USB controller was enabled. This was working fine in 4.2.12.
It turned out that the current user (existing/original user) no longer had permissions to VirtualBox Virtualization Solutions. Following the solution mentioned in this post resolved the problem:
