Bug Description

Hello!

I just wanted to inform you that when i create an applicaiton launcher for a wine app WITH icon on the .desktop file, it launches, and does not stick with the icon, instead it shows a new app launched with the wine icon.

The same is with the new minecraft launcher, the minecraft launcher shows the correct app icon, but after you start minecraft from the launcher, the launcher closes and minecraft starts as a new app with an ugly icon.

I think it can't keep up with launchers "launching" other applications.
I have no idea what to call it, "launch escalation" or something :p

Yes, same here with Evernote icon. In wingpanel everything is ok/looks good, after starting the ugly wine glass icon is there in plank dock.

Hi,

I'm curios how did you get the Wine System Train icon inside the wingpanel and how I edit the "Application" icon because Evernote do nothing when I press it.

Concerning the missasigned WINE icon, you can troubleshoot this by editing the .desktop file and adding the following line:

      StartupWMClass=program.exe

where program.exe = basename of WINE application (not the full path!).

E.g.:

      StartupWMClass=foxit.exe

Can confirm, and also affects Chrome (I believe since it switched to Aura). Really annoying. I know it can be mitigated in the desktop files themselves by adding the StartupWMClass, but it's odd that other docks/launchers (i.e. Unity) don't seem to have this issue.
