have tried to reproduce with with latest released image and latest --pending image. after swiping around the dash for minutes, I really can't reproduce the CPU hogging issue.

Are you sure you're not confusing it with this one https://bugs.launchpad.net/touch-preview-images/+bug/1183065 , which happens if you loose WiFi connectivity, but has nothing to do with swiping the dash around.

You can reproduce the issue pretty reliably by changing the wifi access point multiple times while the "waiting connection" spinner is still spinning.
