Bug Description

Binary package hint: gnash

Gnash depends on virtual packages libboost-date-time1.33.1 and libboost-thread1.33.1,
but libboost-date-time1.34.0 and libboost-thread1.34.0.

IMHO it should depend on libboost-date-time-dev and libboost-thread-dev.

Those are the build-deps for gnash what one is giving you a problem?
ibboost-dev, libboost-thread-dev, is correct as it will grab whatever version is on your system. Please make sure you have right versions on your sys.

i verified here in gutsy chroot and dependencies appear still to be valid

The following packages have unmet dependencies:
libgnash0: Depends: libboost-date-time1.33.1 which is a virtual package.
Depends: libboost-thread1.33.1 which is a virtual package.
gnash: Depends: libboost-date-time1.33.1 which is a virtual package.
Depends: libboost-thread1.33.1 which is a virtual package.
...

But on my gutsy I have only libboost-date-time1.34.0.
Thats a problem.

However 0.8.0~cvs20070611.1016-1ubuntu2 gnash seems to be OK with libboost-date-time1.34.0.

Previous gnash 0.7.2 as I remember wanted libboost-thread1.33.1 and you can see it from the log.

As for now problem seems to be fixed, I don't see the reason to include package version in it's name.

PS AAaand.. I mean depends.

libboost-date-time1.34.0 is the package name if it was dependant on version it would be libboost-date-time1.34.0 (>= 1.34.0) or (>=1.33.0) but as you can see the dependancy as i listed above is not listing a version nor the package you have stated it does.

Ok, I can understand why does the package contain branch (1.33.1 or 1.34.0). It could be possible to have them both.

Actually, I'm not at home now and can't check. But if you look here:
http://packages.ubuntu.com/gutsy/libs/libgnash0
You will see the dependency of libboost-date-time1.34.0 and libboost-thread1.34.0.

It's for gnash 0.8x. But I have tried to install 0.7x (I don't remember) and found such broken dependancy, as I mentioned above (needs 1.34.0, but 1.33.1 installed).

Can you try to install gnash 0.7x? Or it's not possible not needed because of 0.8x exist?

0.7 is gone from gutsy ... so the dependencies might have been removed
from gutsy archive, because no package references it.

No need to worry if 0.8 works (which is the version i called to test
in the beginning).
