I think we should let debian do this first as we've split from them, despite being both at the same version

Looking at the commit log, almost nothing changed between the 1.0b1 currently in Ubuntu 13.04 and 1.0.

We can't do a regular sync with Debian because 1.0-1 is a lower version number than 1.0b1-0ubuntu1. (The Ubuntu uploader should have used 1.0~b1-0ubuntu1 instead.)

That's a shame. The debian version is better made (newer standards version and uses quilt) and maintained. Is there a way to get it syncing without breaking things?

Thanks for reporting.

Looks like the problems discussed above got resolved when python-setuptools-git version 1.1-1 got synced to Ubuntu. This version is available in Ubuntu 15.04 and later releases, so I believe this issue can be closed.
