Cannot create new folder in column or list view using the mouse when the list of files/folders is bigger than the window [$25]

When one is using the column or list view, (s)he cannot create a new folder in certain circumstances. Specifically, when the list of files and folders is longer than the window (and there is a scroll bar) there is no space to right click and get to the menu where you create a new folder. A screenshot is attached to demonstrate. The user is able to make a new folder in the second column, but not the first one.

Maybe enforcing a blank row at the end of each list should be enough to fix this issue.

Another possible solution is to add "Create New Folder" as an option to the right-click menu on the the location bar.

Or maybe a button "New folder" in the last column (gray column), no matter how many columns there, creating the new folder in the left column.

Couldn't you just add Create Folder to files context menu? So people wouldn''t have to seek for an empty space.

Currently (pantheon-files 0.2.0) on the list view mode, you can right-click on the column headers (the bar that says filename | size | type | modified) to access the new (folder/empty file) menu.

I have not found a way to create new folder/file using the column view mode and have to switch modes back and forth.

I use the List view almost exclusively and keep running into this. Toozler's workaround is useful, but a consistent solution across all Views would be better. To that end I've posted a bounty:

You can also do what Windows does and have a narrow column of always empty space. It would act just like normal background, e.g. for invoking right-click menu or dropping files.

You can create a new folder by pressing Ctrl-Shift-N.

I still agree with Julián. Enforcing a blank link at the end should not only allow creation of a new folder, it will also allow pasting files via mouse using Right Click -> Paste.

The linked branch treats all white space in ColumnView as background when secondary clicked. This is simpler to achieve than the suggested dummy blank line and is usually available without scrolling. If not the width of the column can be increased by dragging.
