Thanks for the report.

When you try to boot the image under Secure Boot, what happens?

If you are booting from USB, how did you prepare the USB image? (Using what software?)

Please attach the contents of these two files on your system:
/sys/firmware/efi/efivars/KEK-8be4df61-93ca-11d2-aa0d-00e098032b8c
/sys/firmware/efi/efivars/db-d719b2cb-3d3a-4596-a3bc-dad00e67656f

Changed in shim (Ubuntu):
status: New → Incomplete

Hi,
I asked a follow up question on http://askubuntu.com/a/228069 regarding the safety of changing to Secure Boot. Do you know if I have to change it in repair-boot or will making the change in the BIOS be sufficient?

I didn't boot from USB, I prepared a LiveDVD.

I don't know what you mean by repair-boot. Enabling and disabling Secure Boot support can only be done from within the firmware (BIOS).

Thanks for the zip file. The Secure Boot configuration of your firmware looks completely normal.

But when you tried to boot the DVD with Secure Boot enabled, what happened? Were there error messages? Can you provide a screenshot?

repair-boot is the utility recommended by the link that I shared in order to restore the ability to boot into Windows8 from GRUB, after having installed Ubuntu with both Secure Boot disabled as well as with UEFI disabled.
My guess, at asking the question above, was that GRUB has to be updated to allow booting in Secure Mode, since Ubuntu was installed otherwise.

As to your question, trying to install showed a blank screen. I tried the nomodeset and nosplash --verbose text options as well as one or two more options proposed the Ubuntu Forums installation forum.

Ok. This sounds like a duplicate of bug #1187233, which also affects ASUS hardware.
