CUPS hangs on large job queue

Bug Description

When I want to print several files in a queue, cupsd will hang after a few jobs and not complete the rest. (I add the jobs at a rather quick pace, say, about 5 to 10 in one minute). My printer is an old Epson Stylus Color 880.
The only solution is to kill and restart cupsd; after that, CUPS will finish the queue.
Also, when I try to print a document after cupsd hangs (which I can't see), new jobs are not added to the queue, which really is the most annoying problem.
This is in Feisty. It did not occur in Edgy.

Can you have a look at the error_log on the computer running the cups daemon ?
Cups log files are located in /var/log/cups/. The error log is named error_log.

A typical error in the error.log is:

---
E [26/Jun/2007:13:38:01 +0200] Unable to accept client connection - Too many open files.
E [26/Jun/2007:13:38:01 +0200] cupsdReadClient: Unable to write 32768 bytes to /var/spool/cups/00000005: Bad file descriptor
E [26/Jun/2007:13:38:07 +0200] Unable to create job status pipes - Too many open files.
E [26/Jun/2007:13:38:08 +0200] cupsdReadClient: Unable to write 32768 bytes to /var/spool/cups/00000006: Bad file descriptor
---

As I wrote, this happens when I quickly add a lot of jobs. However, those errors did not occur in Edgy, even though I did exactly the same thing.

Thanks!

Marking as confirmed, since Megalo have given the requested information, and that's looks enough to me to figure out what is happening.

I can confirm that I am also having this problem on a fully up to date feisty workstation at home.

I've just had to stop cupsys, clear /var/spool/cups and start cupsys about four times in the last ten minutes - and now it's dead again.

I can confirm running Feisty and Network Printer. A single 21 page document printed cups crashed and piled errors into error log . . . . subsequent print jobs were queued but not printed until user rebooted.

From error_log:

E [27/Sep/2007:14:50:12 +1200] Unable to accept client connection - Too many open files.

zgrep Too\ many\ open\ files error_log.1.gz | wc -l
