Text color is light on top of light popovers when using a dark background gradient

Bug Description
When setting backgroundColor in MainView to a dark color, the text color becomes a light color on top of the dark background. This looks nice, but the problem is the same light color is used for text on top of a light background, such as a popover or a sheet.
