Modemlights "Properties" option asks for root password

Bug Description

Selecting "Properties" from the modemlights context menu asks for a root
password before doing whatever it might want to do.

Should there really be something on an applet's menu that wants to be root?

I'm not the bug reporter, but I'm running the above version of gnome-applets and
selecting "properties" asks for the root password, and as I don't have one the
properties dialogue will not open.
