nicotine does not start

It works fine here on Gutsy i386. Are any errors/warning printed if you run it from a terminal?

terminal output was posted @ debbugs #429718

however, somehow it works now.maybe some updates or reinstalling and deleting the config folder did it..

I can confirm this bug (kubuntu gutsy). Nicontine worked fine under kubuntu 7.04.

I confirm this on Kubuntu 7.10. Nicotine worked in Feisty but not in Gutsy. Though I found a workaround on a debian board.
Try installing package gstreamer0.10-plugins-base (it will also install liboil0.3 along with it). This solved the problem for me.
