Bug Description

Dear Team,

I'm running a partially twisted version of hoary on a tyan thunderbird dual
althon using the current k7-smp kernel.
Gnome has stopped working.I have universe and multiverse switched on.

I have lost ubuntu desktop. when you try to install you find....

sudo apt-get install ubuntu-desktop
Reading Package Lists... Done
Building Dependency Tree... Done
Some packages could not be installed. (cut the difficult bits)
The following information may help to resolve the situation:

The following packages have unmet dependencies:
ubuntu-desktop: Depends: mozilla-firefox-gnome-support but it is not going to
be installed

When searching for this I note that you need to have a specific version of
mozilla-firefox for mozilla-firefox-gnome and I have a later version. I think
this is a dependency problem

I have lost my menus, and gnome is borked. Yesterday, after my ritualistic
apt-get dist-upgrade, I lost the menu system in xfce4, my second favourite
desktop :-(

I'm aware that hoary will continually break, but I think this one needs to be on
the fix list

Chris

Some packages could not be installed. This may mean that you have
requested an impossible situation or if you are using the unstable
distribution that some required packages have not yet been created
or been moved out of Incoming.

Since you only requested a single operation it is extremely likely that
the package is simply not installable and a bug report against
that package should be filed.
The following information may help to resolve the situation:

The following packages have unmet dependencies:
  mozilla-firefox-gnome-support: Depends: mozilla-firefox (=
1.0+dfsg.1-2ubuntu1) but 1.0-2ubuntu4-warty99 is to be installed
E: Broken packages

The version of firefox you quote is not something from an official ubuntu
archive. I assume you are using the ubuntu backports project or similar.
