I like the application beeing opened a lot and when I'm looking I don't know when the message was written.

I think it clutters the view quite a bit. Maybe showing it in tooltips would be enough

Empathy only shows them when there has been no activity for a while. Seems like a reasonable thing to do. Maybe we should imitate that.

If we go to webview support I think stuff like this needs the ability to be changed per theme. Not just looks wise but also if the timestamp sould be in front of every line or only every now and then like Apple does it (after a pause), etc.

P.S.: Another good way to do it is to show a timestamp on hover only
