update manager closes log window

Update manager runs apt or something like it to perform the update. the log of this program may require review. the log is shown in a window with a check-box to allow it disappear when update is complete. the window disappears at the completion of the update regardless of whether the box is checked our un-checked.
failure to review and correct errors could leave the system in an un-recoverable state after re-boot if errors (at this point unknown) are not corrected before re-boot.

The window still closes before you can read messages like

"Grub updated....You need the take the following action see
long path.../NEWS....something."

So just exactly is it that I am supposed to do with what?
How do I find out? The message is gone.

Please fix the log window so it does not close until clicked if:
-There are any errors
-There is any action that the user needs to know about.
-User just wants it to stay open so she/he can review what happened.
