Bug Description
Due to phishing attacks in the internet asking to upgrade allegedly old opera browser, I was asked whether the browser is old, and couldn't find any clue about it. The opera's about page doesn't tell the build or release date, neither does opera website. Neither does software manager nor synaptic nor `aptitude show '~iopera'` nor `dpkg --info`. Synaptic can't get package changelog with an error:
------
This change is not coming from a source that supports changelogs.
Failed to fetch the changelog for opera
URI was: http://
------
It's fairly obvious if a package is latest, but this doesn't tell anything about its age.
One can check file time on the disk (where?) or something like
dpkg --contents /var/cache/
But such hoops result in bad user experience.
A software's release date should be readily accessible at least from the synaptic interface.
Not sure if this is a security vulnerability, because this bug makes the user more susceptible to these phishing attacks (which are aimed at windows users, though).
Mint 14, Mate 32-bit.
