Bug Description

Binary package hint: firefox

hy, many pages are really slow, so that scrolling isnt really possible.
i have a new ubuntu feisty install, and a new firefox 2.0.0.4 install, sys with standard repos upgraded today with synaptic.
ive no plugins installed, except jre, the latest 1.5 version with plugin and jdk
ive no extensions or skins in firefox
and when i have such a slow site open in ff, and switch to another window, for example the terminal, and want to move it fast, it is very slow, it performes very bad.
one example page is the blueprints site here on lauchpad.net
another example: http://www.power-portal.to

i have a p4 with 3,06ghz and ht
1gb ram
ati radeon 9000 with os radeon driver (glxgears says 1660fps)

i had this bug on edgy, with all ff version, and now on feisty ive this bug too. i hope this will help you to fix this bug, or help mozilla to fix their bugs.
if anyone need more infos, reply pls.
regards chief

On my 1.4GHz AMD Athlon with 1GB of RAM the page above has loaded in about 2-3 seconds, firefox remains responsive, scrolling up/down works fine. I cannot notice any slowdowns.

Could you please try disabling the jave related plugins, maybe they are the cause for the slowdown and not firefox.

Pistahh

so, i have uninstalles all pugins and clean reinstalled firefox, but he is still slow, and the pageload causes a 100%cpuload.
i have tired it with my other pc, athlon xp1800+ , sis integrated graka, 512MB ram, configured X11 with "sis"
and with this pc i have the same problems.

furthermore i noticed, that i have the same problem with the pdf viewer, which is installed outofthebox.
scrolling causes 100% cpu and its much slower than firefox. omg, i cant scroll, becuase i have to wait hours until my scroll is loaded.

Does this happen with all browsers or just firefox? I am unable to reproduce this here on a p4 i.7ghz with 256 ram. it opens fine here. What locale are you using with firefox and system. Is pango enabled, if so does disabling it help render pages normal? Can you give a few more links NO PORN please that this happens on maybe links with less pictures on it or is it only the sites with pictures on it that it happens with?

Desktop-effects or any other 3D apps will slow everything down as it needs the mem cpu to run and its a very heavy load when speaking of beryl, compiz, ect... It can also be that your video card is older and the memory that comes with the card is low and than it will slow GUI down due to you are now low on memory. The wikis state if you wan to play a game or use something else intensive to turn desktop-effects off.

Rejecting as this is not a firefox issue.
