Bug Description

Binary package hint: kxdocker

Please drop kxdocker from gutsy repos, it has been broken since edgy, Edgys is fixed now but upstream stopped supporting it and they have a replacement application named XQDE. Please see this link for more info on it http://xqde.xiaprojects.com/.

Thank You,

Maybe we should package XQDE before dropping kxdocker?

You need to subscribe 'ubuntu-archive' to get it done. But best to ask somebody for input on this one first.

I havent had time to find and ask the debian maintainer of kxdocker to find out what they planned on doing either drop it without replacement or replace it. the next 2 or so weeks i will be busy and wont have time to find him, so ill try again in july sometime.

I sent another email to another one listed as maintainer and still have not received a reply, they havent seemed to have dropped it in debian but i still suggest we drop it, at this point i dont think including XQDE is urgent at this time. Im leaning towards droppping both and calling it a day, since kxdocker upstream support sucked and same devels are upstream XQDE so im not real sure if its worth it unless they have changed and are gonna stick with supporting thier projects.

I still havent heard anything from neither of the maintainers i emailed. I still think its buggy upstream states they are moving foward with XQDE and killing kxdocker support. I am against shipping a broken package that has been broken atleast since edgy into gutsy its been about a year and hasnt been ficed yet, removal of binaries and source should be done and since debian maintainers dont feel like replying we should remove without debian's input.
AFAIK ther eare other dockers like kooldock that work and have same functions as kxdocker (although hard for me to know since kxdocker has never worked for me.
Subscribing ubuntu-universe-sponsors. as stated at: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/MOTU/Removal

No, this should definitely be removed.

It's been broken for ages, and no one seems to have been able to come up with a suitable config file (which would fix it) in 3 releases.

(i'm one of the people who has uploaded it a few times, and have had my eye on this)

Of course, if someone actually comes up with a config file, then we can add it back - but if there's not been one in 3 releases, and there's a new application now anyway, chances of this are very low.
