This issue was reported multiple times for python-xapian (though as I noted in https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xapian-bindings/+bug/1075632/comments/2 it doesn't seem specific to python-xapian) but there are no reports against python3-xapian, so I'm closing as fixed by the removed of python-xapian (as part of the Python2 purge).
