NetworkManager - 'Could not find the pppd binary'

Bug Description
After doing an apt-get upgrade, my pptp VPN connection no longer works.
Steps:
1. Select existing VPN from 'VPN Connections' in the 'Wireless Networks' option in the menu bar
2. The network manager reports that it 'Could not find the pppd binary' and the VPN service 'pptp' disappeared (See below)
I have recreated the VPN configuration which has no effect. Other devices are still able to access the VPN.
