Bug Description

I'm using Ubuntu 13.04 (Kernel : 3.8.0-23-generic #34-Ubuntu) on my HP ElteBook 8470p. Ubuntu frequently freeze and I have to perform a hard reboot by holding the button more than 5 seconds. Note that this never happens when the charger is plugged, only while working on batteries. My collegues have the same laptop with the same issue.

Would it be possible for you to test the latest upstream kernel? Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Please test the latest v3.10 kernel[0].

If this bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following tag 'kernel-fixed-upstream'.

If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the tag: 'kernel-bug-exists-upstream'.

If you are unable to test the mainline kernel, for example it will not boot, please add the tag: 'kernel-unable-to-test-upstream'.
Once testing of the upstream kernel is complete, please mark this bug as "Confirmed".

Thanks in advance.

Dear Joseph,

I tried to install the manline Kernel. I succesfully installed the image, but an error occured during header installation. Whatever, I have a new entry in grub, but when I boot on this entry, the wireless network is no longer working, so I will not use this kernel while I need network access for my work. Should I add this tag : "kernel-unable-to-test-upstream" ? If yes, where should I add this tag ?

Best regards,
