Bug Description

since upgrading to Ubuntu 13.10 I've a problem with image-corruption in firefox.

Symptoms:
1. A loaded image is shown instead of an other loaded image (image is duplicated / replaced) [see screenshot, the icon in the top-left "Meine Abos - Youtube" has the Icon of "IT-News ct, iX, ..." and of "Portal > ubuntuusers.de"]
2. A image is corrupted so you can't even recognize what shall be shown
2_1. The image is black either entirely...
2_2. ... or some pixels are repeated over the whole image [see attached screenshot, the icon in the top-left "Meine Abos - Youtube"]

This happens nearly every time, when the image is scaled down by firefox. It happens less often when the image is actually in the right size.

The problem can only be solved by reloading the image (preventing the cache, i.e. hitting ctrl+f5)

Animated images [gif] are never corrupted.

#1144558 seems to be the same, if the fix for this bug will fix my issues I'll mark this this bug as a duplicate.

But I'm too untechnical to be able to say "yes this is a duplicate". If anyone has this deep insight, feel free to mark this bug as a duplicate.

Since the bug is still in my fully updated Ubuntu 13.10 (and the bug is marked "fix released" in bug #1144558 ) I think my bug isn't a duplicate.

So there is still a bug within firefox / Xorg / linux-drm-intel.

Chromium is rendering everything fine btw.

the root bug is actually in the kernel, and 3.11 fixes it, will be available to saucy soon
