Bug Description

After an install of the current Linux Mint Debian Edition, updates to everything there is to update, (and an install of the b43 Broadcom driver), I downloaded the current stable Google Chrome from its website, opened it with the Package Installer, and installed it. It did not give any errors, but Google Chrome did not spontaneously launch like it was supposed to, it did not exist in any of the menus or search results, and I had to extract it from the .deb file to run it. Even with that, it's still a standalone file that isn't "installed". It's not considered a browser by the system. The Firefox included with the OS works fine, but beta and Aurora versions downloaded from their site have the same problem as Chrome. I cannot think of anything I could possibly have done for the bug to be my own doing.
