Bug Description
Whole desktop went unresponsive after I had just launched Software Updater.
Switched to vc2 to log in and first, run top; saw apport taking 100%, but then it went down and things looked normal, went back to vc7, saw things had changed (software updater was open), but still no response to keyboard or mouse. Back and forth like that a couple of times. Tried lightdm restart but that hung up completely. Rebooted; apport came back after reboot and login to place this.
