Mint 14: unable config Printer

Bug Description

I'm in Mint 14 , 64 bit, Cinnamon...Similar problem(s) here...

I have 2 Brother printers in a wired LAN. Upon installing Brother drivers, both printers appear in Printer properties.
I'm unable to connect.

On following CUPS 1.6.1 "...You need to set the IP address as static".
I'm not sure that is accurate as the network configuration printed at the printer
after the install indicates a dynamic IP per DHCP, yet I'm still unable to connect.

The previously installed drivers, although totally removed via synaptic,
still have the LPR & CupsWrapper drivers showing in System-Config-Printers .
Cups won't authenticate so unable to manage / set IP.
