No internet sites work (except for google and mozilla)

Installed Kubuntu Feisty 7.04 but was unable to access any websites with the exception of google and mozilla. Other Internet traffic including apt was also failing.

Other computers running Windows at this location have no problems. I took the computer to another location and it worked fine - the differences between the two locations are that one (the problem location) has a static IP address and is running through a community-built wireless network that connects to a major ISP and the other (the good one) connects directly to a major ISP. No other computers on the community network (whether Linux or Windows) had a problem.

The fix was to edit sysctl.conf to add

net.ipv4.tcp_window_scaling = 0

and reboot
