Bug Description
I was looking for the -R option in rtmpdump, but it was not there. It should be since the current packages version is 2.4+20121230.
And in revision df6c518 the -R option is actually there
$ git grep "\-\-realtime" df6c518
df6c518:rtmpdump.c: ("--realtime|-R Don't attempt to speed up download via the Pause/Unpause BUFX hack\n")
When looking in the changelog it could seem like Reinhard forgot to grab that new version because he uploaded version 2.4+20111222.
rtmpdump (2.4+20121230.

* Imported Upstream version 2.4+20111222.
- upstream supports SOCKS proxys (Closes: #706113)
So anyway. Please update rtmpdump to some recent version.
