Bug Description

When trying to take a screenshot, I use 'PrtSc' on my Thinkpad, I get a completely black screen as a result. This shows up in the preview and even if I save the picture, it is also completely black. I'm expecting the screenshot to actually take a picture of my screen.

I can no longer reproduce this bug any more. All my screenshots are working as expected. I am using the latest 13.10 as of Aug 29, 2013

Re-opening. I checked this with the latest updates on Saucy and this still affects me. Tested this on my T420 which this was originally reported on. I also noticed that other screen capture tools do not work. For example 'avconv -f x11grab -i :0.0 /tmp/out.mpg' only produces a black screen in which only the cursor is visible.

With ccsm I disabled 'Copy to Texture', and then I was able to take a screenshot.

This bug affects me as well. It's fixed by running "compiz --replace" in terminal, but in some cases it happens again and I have to do a compiz --replace again.

I see this bug as well. That's with an intel GM965. However, it seems that screenshots stop working only after a "while" (not sure what triggers it). Once screenshots are black, they are always black until I run "compiz --replace" (or restart the computer).

Also affected, disabling/enabling "Copy to texture" makes compiz crash so afterwards the screenshot works fine. Otherwise it seems that suspend+resume breaks it. I can take screenshots just fine before suspending, then it's all black and I need to restart compiz.

OpenGL renderer string: Mesa DRI Intel(R) Ivybridge Mobile
OpenGL core profile version string: 3.1 (Core Profile) Mesa 9.2.0

This seems to be an issue with saucy only, worked fine in raring.

seems like an intel bug and a duplicate of bug #1234178

switching to a vt (ctrl-alt-f1) and back to xorg should workaround the issue
