Crash on Ubuntu causes logout

I had been using Kicad for Ubuntu installed from Ubuntu repositories but someone have me a file and I couldnt read it unless it was the latest version. I downloaded the Ubuntu file from http://iut-tice.ujf-grenoble.fr/cao/ and copied into my home directory. It does run but every couple of hours it crashes and logs me out of Ubuntu, I guess it must be a serious graphics error for this to happen. Latest LTS version of Ubuntu fully patched on a HP6930p machine. Graphics from lspci below

Quite possible you are got bitten by this problem: https://bugs.launchpad.net/kicad/+bug/911963 , setting this as duplicate for now.
