I don't have the systray icon when I "close" Birdie (either on Cinnamon or Gnome Shell)

Bug Description

When I click on the close button of Birdie, Birdie disappears from my Dock. Right behavior up to there.
But then, we except one of these two behaviors therefore:
1) Either Birdie completely quits (so, no result if we try "ps -e | grep birdie")
2) Or Birdie stays on the system tray

Me, I see results when I try "ps -e | grep birdie" so Birdie is still alive…
...but no icon in the system tray.

And therefore, in addition to not having this useful icon in the systray, I can't quit Birdie other than by doing "pkill birdie"…

TECHNICAL INFORMATION:
OS: Ubuntu 12.04.2 LTS (with Cinnamon, but tested with Gnome Shell too and same thing)
Birdie version used: the r268 from the DAILY repository

summary: I don't have the systray icon when I "close" Birdie (either on Cinnamon
- or Gnome-Shell)
+ or Gnome Shell)
