Bug Description

So I updated OT from 3.0 to 3.1, and then it completely stopped working. When I try to run it via terminal (command: "openteacher") nothings happen either (not even any log). After typing echo $? it shows 0.

I'm not super acknowledged of bugs in Ubuntu, so if you need more info, I'll give it to you as soon as I can.

Thanks for taking the time to report this bug. The only way we can explain this behaviour is by not having the python-pyqt4 package installed in Ubuntu. The thing is, all our .deb packages require it to be installed so that should never happen.

- Can you elaborate on how you installed OpenTeacher and
- tell if you have a graphical interface running on the system you're testing on?
- Last, can you post the output of the following terminal command here? dpkg --list | grep python-qt

Thanks in advance.

1) I installed it using *.deb using Ubuntu Software Center (both - normal and dev version of OT). While installing dev version appeared information about low quality of that package (not sure about translation into English). Details were:
"Lintian check results for /home/michdem/Pobrane/openteacher_3.2-0openteachermaintainers0rev657_all.deb:
E: openteacher: malformed-deb-archive found 4 members instead of 3"
I went for "Ignore and Install" and installation proceeded.

2) Yes I do. I use default Ubuntu's Unity.

3) And the output is:
ii python-qt4 4.10-0ubuntu3 amd64 Python bindings for Qt4
ii python-qt4-dbus 4.10-0ubuntu3 amd64 D-Bus Support for PyQt4
ii python-qt4-gl 4.10-0ubuntu3 amd64 Python bindings for Qt4's OpenGL module
ii python-qt4-phonon 4.10-0ubuntu3 amd64 Python bindings for Phonon

Okay, we're thinking on what might be the problem... We have some more questions:
 - Could you run openteacher --debug and post the output on a pastebin? That way we can see which modules are being loaded and so on
 - And could you try renaming your .openteacher directory? That way OpenTeacher will start with default settings. If this fixes your problem, we would be really interested in seeing your .openteacher...

Thank you!

So in attachment is those debug, you asked for.

And apparently running with default settings made it to work. In next comment I will add old config folder, so you could know what could messed up there.

We managed to find out what the problem is! We accidentally made this bug in the development between OT3.0 and OT3.1, where we renamed the wordsonly profile to words-only, causing no modules to start when you use the settings for 3.0 (where it's still called wordsonly). We're looking at a constructive fix right now, in the meantime you can just delete the settings folder to be able to start OpenTeacher again with the default settings (or rename wordsonly to words-only in store.json in your .openteacher dir).

Thanks a lot for your bug report, it showed a serious problem in OpenTeacher that we're going to fix in the next couple of days!

Not at all.

I use OT often, and I can't imagine learning without it, so I want it to be as bug free as possible. Also I'm glad that this bug will be fixed so soon.
