This is no longer the case: synergy has a built-in GUI that works fine on Ubuntu. I didn't realize this until after I had started using it through quicksynergy.
Perhaps quicksynergy should be removed from Ubuntu now that synergy has its own working GUI, which seems more capable. If nothing else, it would reduce confusion and redundancy.
