Bug Description
1) In the Open Image dialog, select "All Files", and try open a file that is not an image.
2) An error dialog appears, with the text "Object reference not set to an instance of an object"
There should be a more useful error message, like "Unsupported file format".
I'm leaving this for 1.6, since this will require new translations.

I tested this on master on Windows XP and get the same error message. Yes, I agree we should use more useful error message. I also agree this is not very important problem, because by default "Image files" is set by default, so most of the users will probably never get into this problem at all.
