evolution sometimes does not mark message as read

What I expected to happen:
In Edit→Preferences→Mail Preferences I have checked "Mark messages as read after 0.0 seconds", so I expect a message to be marked as read immediately once it's displayed.

What happened instead
When I click on an unread message (displayed in bold face text), it is sometimes not marked as read. This happens with maybe every fifth message or so, sometimes more often. I haven't really been able to discern when it happens and when not, it appears to be random.

Status changed to 'Confirmed' because the bug affects multiple users.

HI,

Today I have a look to this error.

The messages who not marked as unread are coming randomly.
But a lot of this messages have attachments.

Err, care to give an explanation as to why the bug has been marked "Invalid"?

wonder if this bug is arrested in 3.18.xx ?

base is 15.10 kubuntu using evolution 3.16.xx
open a virtualbox (VB) with xenial 16.04, evolution 3.18.xx

Case 1
Evolution in both side does not sync well
When clicked READ on one side, it suppose to update the server
And on the other side (VB), evolution "may not" update the messages as READ, still remains in UNREAD

Case 2
Evolution emails are marked READ
After ?? minutes, it was marked UNREAD again

This could happen on either base Kubuntu or VB xenial 16.04 evolution
Feels like its not stable

Upstream bug is a duplicate of #583773
which is showing "RESOLVED FIXED" on 2014-01-23
Tested ok in Ubuntu 18.04
So fixed in recent Ubuntu versions
