Bug Description
"Icons on desktop" Describe error,easy to mislead users.
This setting is described as "have file manager handle the desktop" in gnome-tweak-tool

That bugs has been fixed in 0.0.5, the "Desktop icons" module there is revamped and the problematic option you described above is no more. Check the attached screenshot.
