Bug Description

I have the proposed updates turned on and I noticed an Xorg update last week. After that upgrae, I noticed that when I push the "windows" button to open the dash where I can type a name of an application to launch becomes very slow. In addition, Alt+Tab becomes very slow as well.

I booted 13.04 from USB and tried and it didn't have those problems.

Please help

I supsect it is a problem in the implementation of the blur effect; if you disable blur with Compiz Config Setting Manager, both the Dash and the Alt Tab menu become fast again.

Not only blur effect.... Alt+Tab switching window runs also very slow.

I had the same problem - in ubuntu-tweak-tool i deactivated the blur effects and dash and the "alt-tab" worked fine after that

I had the same problem too - Removing background blur in Unity Tweak Tool has solved the problem.
