if i open a mail it hanks. it always ask password for mail

i am using 11.04 ubuntu. now a days evaluation mail asks root password for sending & getting mail. why?
otherwice, it is working nice.
on opening of a mail from "make my trip.com" it is hanks!!!!! so have to re boot why & how to correct.
