Bug Description

Hi

Having happily used powernap with various version of 32bit Ubuntu I thought I'd try 64 bit Ubuntu. Unfortunately Powernap seems to be having problems.

I've installed/reinstalled etc but the issue is still the same; no Powernap.

After a cold boot the Powernap service isn't running. And when I manually try to start it it seems to start:

rory@xxx:/etc/powernap$ sudo service powernap start
powernap stop/pre-start, process 2700

But when I look the service has gone.

There is no content created in powernap.log or powernap.err.

Help please.

Hi There,

Please check /etc/default/powernap and make sure it is enabled to be started.

Hi Andres

That was indeed the problem:

xxx@xxx:/etc/default$ cat powernap
# start powernap at boot [yes|no]
START=no

So I changed it to Start=yes and powernap is up and running. Thanks very much for your help.

I've never had to do this before, is this a change or a new thing you need to do to enble it ?

Cheerio

HI there!

Yes this is something new that you need to enable from now on. Just for fail safe for those who install it and don't know what might be taking their machines down.

Cheers.
