Bug Description

Just can't get this card to work in ubuntu 12.04, I even tried installing a backport and that solved the problem for a while until i rebooted and then the wireless was gone again.

Here is my thread over at linuxquestions.org that details what all i tried.

Thread - http://www.linuxquestions.org/questions/linux-networking-3/railink-539b-works-on-some-distros-but-not-others-why-4175463071/

This card works just fine in debian 7 (wheezy) using the "firmware-ralink" package, It also works fine in ubuntu 13.04 as well.

I found a workaround and finally got this card to work in ubuntu 12.04 /linux mint 13, It's not really a fix though but it works.

Would it be possible for you to test the latest upstream kernel? Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Please test the latest v3.10 kernel[0].

If this bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following tag 'kernel-fixed-upstream'.

If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the tag: 'kernel-bug-exists-upstream'.

If you are unable to test the mainline kernel, for example it will not boot, please add the tag: 'kernel-unable-to-test-upstream'.
Once testing of the upstream kernel is complete, please mark this bug as "Confirmed".

Thanks in advance.

The problem is fixed for me by installing the backports module "sudo apt-get install linux-backports-modules-cw-3.6-precise-generic"

Everything is working fine for me now with this kernel - Linux Notebook-PC 3.2.0-45-generic #70-Ubuntu SMP Wed May 29 20:12:06 UTC 2013 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux

I'm sorry i don't really want to test another kernel atm, Im happy with things as they are now that the problem seems to be fixed with the 3.2.0-45-generic kernel.

After testing out ubuntu 13.04 and linux mint 15 i can confirm wireless no longer works in both distros, WTF? Something that was fixed in 12.04 via a backport module is now broken in mint 13/ubuntu 13.04? Seriously? I thought things where supposed to IMPROVE with each new release? Instead things that where once fixed are now broken again, What retards are developing this crap?
