I'm marking Incomplete, which will be automatically closed in a few months, so people have a chance to see it and a chance to reopen with something reproducable.

After a quick test in Opera, it's not working anymore too. It stoped working yesterday for both browsers. Everything is fine in Firefox 21.

I can give few more informations on my config / installed packages if you need, just tell me what can be usefull.

Same problem, everything loads, but no sound and no visual feedback after pressing play. Not sure what the problem exactly is as grooveshark and google music work fine. Kubuntu 13.04 64 bit.

Same issue since system update on Monday, Xubuntu i386 13.04, Chromium 25.0.1364.160. Can't test if Java is indeed somehow involved as I unfortunately need it.

Same issue with version 25.0.1364.160, on Ubuntu 12.10 (25.0.1364.160-0ubuntu0.12.10.1).

Running Flash version 11.7.700.203 (was updated using pepflashplugin-installer).
Previously running the latest Flash player for Ubuntu/Firefox/etc (I think it was 11.2.200).

UPDATE: Apparently Chromium does not close completely when you close the browser window.
After a restart, Soundcloud with Chromium 25.0.1364.160, and Flash 11.7.700.203 works fine.

Version 25.0.1364.160 Ubuntu 13.04 (25.0.1364.160-0ubuntu3)

On debugging, I noticed this string "HTML5_AUDIO_SRC_NOT_SUPPORTED", on checking the underlying audio link, it seems that chromium was not able to play the audio because of the absence of codec. Installing chromium-codecs-ffmpeg-extra solves this issue. Now Soundcloud works fine.

Solution: Install " chromium-codecs-ffmpeg-extra" package.

after some updates the problem is back, but resolved with note #11.

seems like some regression is happening, when updating??

can't wait to get the developers to make a note of this on the to of the page - just like when missing other plug-ins :)

omarly666: I had this issue as well. Even after a restart the problem persists. The solution was to go into the System Monitor and kill all the chromium processes. Chromium is preloaded on OS start (presumably to facilitate fast loading), so chromium was in an "always-open" state.

For completeness: the problem *comes back* after installing chromium-codecs-ffmpeg.

Also for completeness: the bug is because chromium fails silently when requested to play a soundcloud file.

I don' t think there's anything to do here. We can't discard the non-extras package. Installing one of the two packages that chromium-browser Recommends fixes the problem.

Indeed, installing "chromium-codecs-ffmpeg-extra" fixes this for me as well on Chromium 28.0.1500.71 Ubuntu 13.04.

@CSRedRat: The Chromium issue you linked to seems to be about the sound not playing correctly. This issue is about the sound not playing at all.

As it is, installing chromium-codecs-ffmpeg-extra (which is the default on new installs now) fixes the problem.

Bug re-opened without explanation nearly 3 years after it was (twice) marked "Invalid". Reverting that change as the issue was resolved. SoundCloud works perfectly here using Chromium 71 in Ubuntu 18.04.

@Tim, was this still an issue for you in 2016? Is it still an issue for you now? If so, please open a new bug report and fully describe the problem.
