Thank you for your bug report, could you add your ~/.xsession-errors to the bug? does it happen if you start your session with something else than lightdm?

does it happen only with gnome-shell sessions (seems to be what you are using from the log warnings)?

I'm using just Unity desktop. No other Desktop Environment is installed. I could try install gdm and try with it

does it happen in a guest session as well?

it's weird that your session log has
"** (nm-applet:2148): WARNING **: Could not find ShellVersion property on org.gnome.Shell after 5 tries"

do you use any ppa version?

nope no ppa's related to lightdm and unity or gnome.

GDM took about 6/7s to log in

you might want to install pybootchartgui and bootchart, reboot your system, log in and look to the boot chart image generated in /var/log/bootchart, it might indicate what is taking time...

do you see something unusual?

the IOs are slow on that chart, either your disk is a slow one or the readahead profile is broken for some reason...

otherwise there is a noticable gap of 6.5 seconds due to pulseaudio between lightdm and gnome-session ... reassigning to it since that seems to be the only real issue on the chart
