Incorrect Start/Date time

Bug Description

The monthly start/date time won't remain at the first day of the month.

I have changed all the start/date times but when I reopen the preferences it is always the same as the current day.

Which means the totals don't match. For example:

This month downloaded: 3.49 GB
This month uploaded: 1.15 GB
Total for this month: 347.65 MB

I purchased BitBudget so I could easily and quickly monitor the monthly totals from an indicator.

I'd appreciate it if you could fix this.

Thanks for your time.

I am a bit unclear about what exactly you are describing. I believe this may be related to this bug: https://bugs.launchpad.net/bitbudget/+bug/1185046.

Does that sound like what's happening?

If not, please describe as clearly as possible (preferably with screenshots):

1. Exactly what you have done.
2. What you expected to happen.
3. What actually happened.

Also, attaching ~/.config/bitbudget would be helpful.

It's similar to the other bug report.

1. I changed the Start Dates in Overview and in Charts from 28 may to 01
may.

2. I expected the monthly total to change to show the actual total.

3. No change to the monthly total. When I re-open the preferences the
start dates have reverted to 28 may.

I've attached 4 screenshots and the config file.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the information. This is definitely a different bug and a very strange one because the total is calculated as the sum of the uploads and downloads. I haven't been able to reproduce this but it may be an edge case to do with the data you have.

If you don't mind, could you please upload BitBudget's data. To do this, navigate to ~/.local/share in the file manager, right click on the folder and click 'compress' then upload the resulting archive. If you are comfortable with the command line, you could create the archive by running:

    tar cavf data.tar.gz -C ~ .local/share/BitBudget/

The data contained is the number of bytes uploaded and downloaded on each network interface for each hour that BitBudget has been in use. It doesn't contain any of the data transferred over the network so isn't a privacy risk.

By the way, the 'Start Date/Time' on the overview isn't related to the monthly usage - it is used to display totals for an arbitrary date/time range. To set the start day of the billing month, use the "Month Start Day" box in the preferences tab.
