Bug Description

Hello,

I had the following issue on a x64 Ubuntu:
I just installed skype via apt-get. On running it, I get some error saying that libGL.so.1 is not found.

I solved the problem by adding a file /usr/local/bin/skype (see atachment) setting LD_LIBRARY_PATH. This is quick and dirty but does it for me.

I am unsure, why the library is not found by the loader. There seems to be no config file for the library loader. in /etc/ld.so.conf.d. I think (but am not sure) that this should be set up correctly by the libgl1-mesa-dri package.

Release: Ubuntu 13.04
skype: 4.2.0.11-0ubuntu0.12.04.1
libgl1-mesa-dri:i386: 9.1.1-0ubuntu3

What version of the libgl1-mesa-glx:i386 package do you have? What is the output of 'update-alternatives --display i386-linux-gnu_gl_conf'? Do you have a /etc/alternatives/i386-linux-gnu_gl_conf link?

You should have an /etc/ld.so.conf.d/i386-linux-gnu_GL.conf link pointing at the /etc/alternatives link. If this is missing, that's probably not a bug in mesa; the handling of this link is fairly standard and bullet proof. It would be more likely a problem of filesystem corruption, rogue software, or user error (at some point in the past).
