Bug Description

With Feisty Fawn and Thunderbird 1.5 from the repos it frequently happens that I can't reply or create a new mail.
When I try to reply to an e-mail (or create a new mail) I get a blank e-mail with no recipient, no quoted message and no subject. I also can not change this, the message I can not edit.
When I close this, Thunderbird asks if I want to save the changes and when I say no, and try again I get the same result. When I say that I want to save the changes the mail is not placed in Drafts.
When I leave the blank mail open and reply or create a new mail without closing the blank mail I CAN reply or create mail. I get quoted text when replying and I can edit this text.

This is quite annoying. It doesn't happen all the time but out of 10 times I start Thunderbird, 1 time it works without problems so this is quite a problem here.

Hi there
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. You reported this bug a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering is this still an issue for you? Can you try with the development branch of Ubuntu, Hardy Heron?

Thanks in advance.

I switched to Evolution because it did not seem to be fixed in the near future, especially since this is the first reply on this problem. So I am unaware if this has been fixed nowadays.

Hi there
Thanks for the update. I'm closing this report then, since it refers to an outdated piece of software and hasn't being reproduced by anyone else, if you experience this issue again, please file a new bug report against the new version of thunderbird.

Thanks

This actually is still an issue in 2.0.0.14, happens to me as described in the first post here. Also heard from a friend that it happens there. In fact its not the same for all messages, some can be replied to and some cannot (at the moment the message which causes the problem is one with some bigger attachments (18MiB).

Please read the wiki on the way Ubuntu-Mozilla Team triages bugs before marking confirmed. Example of mising info is Thunderbird versions listed, step by step instructions on how to reproduce this bug. Is this only seen on IMAP or POP or does it not matter? Thorton what Ubuntu version are you using?

We dont mark bugs confirmed because most of the issues that people have are due to thier own extensions/addons or corrupt profile. To confirm this bug it would be nice to have all info needed plus a Mozilla team member able to reproduce the bug from the step by step instrucions, OR finding an Upstream bug or reporting one. However if someone from the bug reports it upstream the best way to handle it is marking it confirmed When the mozilla bug gets updated by Mozilla.
To find more info on the way Mozilla Team handles status of our bugs please read: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/MozillaTeam/Bugs/States?highlight=(mozilla)
If you feel a Mozilla bug should be confirmed please add a tag to the bug and name the tag mt-confirm and we will than look at it and ad questions if needed or mark it confirmed if the info is there.
If you have any questions after reading Wiki please either join the mozilla team mailing list at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-mozillateam

Since it's been a very long time since any additional info was added to this bug, I'm just checking to see if this is still an issue, and find out what additional work should be done on this bug.

I am still unable to reproduce this bug with IMAP or POP3 using SMTP for outgoing. I have testing with 2.0.0.18 and 3.0.
Please let us know if you see this on IMAP or POP

i assume this isn't reproducible anymore. could have been chrome index issues, extensions, or lots of other things.
