GDM refuses to restart after activating XDMCP

Bug Description

GDM refuses to restart after activating XDMCP with gdmsetup (and doing a /etc/init.d/gdm restart within X...) . The X server starts as normal, but I end up on a black screen with only the (gnome) mouse pointer available.
If I do a "startx" at console level, Gnome starts as normal.

Even if a do a complete reboot of the computer, the same problem occurs (with the X server starting ending up with that black screen with only mouse pointer available).

(I also manually changed "Enable=false" to "Enable=true" in the /etc/gdm/gdm.conf, but nothing happens if I change it back to "false")

Thank you for your bug. What version of Ubuntu do you use? Do you have anything to /var/log/syslog after running into the bug?

Yes there is, unfortunately in swedish. Think it means something like "Access registry not found".

I just had exactly the same problem after enabling remote access. It worked again once I moved the file /etc/gdm/gdm.conf-custom out of the way.

Hi there
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. You reported this bug a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering is this still an issue for you? Can you try with the development version of Ubuntu, Hardy Heron?

Thanks in advance.
