Bug Description

Bug starts to show up after last kernel update (3.8.0.21.37). Sometimes system works very slow. 'top' command shows that many processes produces 40-50% CPU loading. Processes every time are different. Once udevd daemon produced 70% CPU loading and even 'ps' command freezed when it's output was on udevd. java (tomcat, I think) and xorg produces over 100% thery often. CPU cooler during this works on maximum frequency and doesn't stop. CPU temperature increases to 60-65C.

After reboot everything works fine. Now summary CPU loading less then 10%, temperature - 40-45C. In spite of I have several hard programs (eclipse, chrome, thunderbird and other) launched.

Would it be possible for you to test the latest upstream kernel? Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Please test the latest v3.10 kernel[0].

If this bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following tag 'kernel-fixed-upstream'.

If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the tag: 'kernel-bug-exists-upstream'.

If you are unable to test the mainline kernel, for example it will not boot, please add the tag: 'kernel-unable-to-test-upstream'.
Once testing of the upstream kernel is complete, please mark this bug as "Confirmed".

Thanks in advance.

I have tested kernels 3.10 and 3.9.2 and didn't observe this bug. So it seems like it fixed. But both of this kernels works incorrect at my laptop - there are problems when loading nvidia module. I can't even works normally. Maybe it because of absence linux-image-extra package for both of this kernels.
This means that environment for stable system and tested kernels was different. And I don't know if this matter on bug reproduce.
